• You will visit Wat Thmei, one of the memorials of over 18000 killing fields in Cambodia. Then Apopo Visitor Center (Rats Landmine Detector Center), gives you the chance to see the Hero Rats in action. There has a demonstration area where the Hero Rats will sniff out buried items and scratch at the surface to indicate to trainers. (Apopo Visitor Center is opened only in weekdays without holiday so it will be replaced into War Museum when it is closed.)
• Excursion to Angkor National Museum. It is an archaeological museum dedicated to the collection, preservation and presentation of Angkorian artifacts. The collections are mainly dated from Khmer Empire's Angkor period circa 9th to 14th-century.
• You will visit Tonle Sap Lake where you will discover the floating village activities: crocodile farming, fishing operation preparation, boat shops, floating schools, etc… Towards, Artisans D’ Angkor, established to support Cambodian arts and crafts. Then, visit Wat Preah Prom Rath, one of the spiritual temples in the city proper with colorful towers surrounding the main temple.
• The last stop is The Old Market called Phsar Chas. It is the oldest Khmer market in Siem Reap, where you can find the vendors selling inexpensive souvenirs such as clothes, jewelry, and shoes.
• First visit is the ‘main event’ the magnificent Angkor Wat Temple that is the largest religious monument in the world. Inside the temple, the walls are covered with stone carvings and bas‐reliefs which is quite breathtaking. After lunch at local restaurant, continue to the South Gate (with its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk) and see the ancient capital of Angkor Thom built in the late 12th century.
• Onwards to Bayon temple which is unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara. Following, you may visit the Royal Enclosure, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. Last stop is Ta Prohm which is the modern name of the temple at Angkor, built in the late 12th to early 13th centuries. However, probably more famous for being the location where they filmed the Tomb Raider movie.
• First stop is Banteay Samre a Hindu temple in the Angkor Wat style. Named after the Samré, an ancient people of Indochina, the temple uses the same materials as Banteay Srei. Then you will go to celebrated Banteay Srei. It is one of the most beautiful temples, built of red sandstone in the tenth century. The carved male and female figures in the niches are exquisitely executed in both style and proportion.
• Lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit Roluos Group, the site of an ancient center of Khmer civilization known as Hariharalaya. It was the first town built by the Angkorian kings in the 8th and 9th century and consists of three main temples: Bakong, Lolei and Preah Ko.
• You will visit Tonle Sap Lake where you will discover different aspects of the floating village activities. Upon reaching the lake, you will visit the village of Kampong Phluck to explore the flooded mangrove forests and entire village built on stilted. You will understand about the life on the water and can enjoy the lake views from different perspectives. Due to low water levels during the dry season, the boat trip is normally possible from July to March. In the other periods, you can explore and see the local stilt houses.
• Tour excursion to Phnom Kulen around 60km from Siem reap town, to visit big Buddha, 1000 Linga under the water and the water fall. Phnom Kulen means ‘Mountain of Lychees’ and considered to be the most sacred mountain in Cambodia and you can see the massive reclining Buddha on the top. Also, you can cast an eye over Cambodia’s lush forests and jungles.
• Another site here is the ‘River of A Thousand Lingas’ and the waterfalls that are perfect spots to cool off. Take picnic lunch as picnic on Mountain. In the afternoon, visit Beng Mealea, “Lotus Pond” Temple, about 2hours drive from Siem Reap. You will have the opportunity to step back in time and ‘discover’ Beng Mealea a sprawling jungle temple covering just over 1km. Its primary material is sandstone and it is largely unrestored, with trees and thick brush thriving amidst its towers and courtyards and many of its stones lying in great piles.
• First stop is Koh Ker, once an ancient capital of Cambodia, located about 50km away from the provincial town. Koh Ker temple is 35 meters high, and its design resembles a seven-stepped stupa. So far, 96 temples have been found in Koh Ker and those temples were not constructed near each other. Today, many of them are no longer standing, and some are buried in the ground.
• After lunch, continue to Beng Mealea, “Lotus Pond” Temple, about 2hours drive from Siem Reap. You will have the opportunity to step back in time and ‘discover’ Beng Mealea a sprawling jungle temple covering just over 1km. Its primary material is sandstone and it is largely unrestored, with trees and thick brush thriving amidst its towers and courtyards and many of its stones lying in great piles.
• At 07:00am, pick up at your staying hotel and head to a unique UNESCO recognized site. The Temple of Preah Vihear, is an architectural complex of a series of sanctuaries linked by a system of pavements and staircases on an 800metre long axis, it is an outstanding masterpiece of Khmer architecture, in terms of plan, decoration and relationship to the spectacular landscape environment. This site is particularly well preserved, mainly due to its remote location in the Preah Vihear province.
